The Six Human Needs

1.

The Six Human Needs

This approach has been designed by Tony Robbins through the Robbins Madanas Training Institute.

You can use this worksheet as a tool for reflecting on your perspectives on your own needs.

You could also use it to reflect on your perspective on a coachee's needs.

Alternatively you could use it with a coachee to help them to reflect on their own needs.

Everyone has a mix of all these needs, although different people may prioritise some needs over others. This can lead to very different values and behaviours as a result.

2.

Core Needs

These core needs are met initially.

3.

Certainty

Certainty is the assurance that you can rely on, or predict outcomes. In particular, humans need to be certain that they can avoid pain and move towards pleasure.

4.

Uncertainty

Humans need new stimuli to thrive. Uncertainty is engaging with new experiences.

5.

Significance

Humans need to feel that they matter. Significance is feeling unique, special, and important.

6.

Connection

Humans need a strong feeling of closeness with others.

7.

Further needs

Once our core needs have been met, we can then have these further needs met.

8.

Growth

Humans need to feel that they are growing by making progress throughout their lives.

9.

Contribution

Humans need to feel that they are contributing to their loved ones and community in order to feel happy. Contribution includes participating, helping and giving to others.

10.
